The core of our outreach is our basketball program. Through Kingdom Hoops we are able to offer youth a unique development opportunity and platform to 300-400 youth annually. While we offer elite basketball training, our environment is one that creates integrative inclusion – a setting where diverse groups of youth come together, create relationships, and achieve goals together. Last year, students from over 50 school districts in the state of Iowa to participated in Kingdom Hoops.
From a basketball standpoint, our focus remains in the fundamentals and skill development of each athlete in the program no matter age or level. The opportunity for youth to participate in Kingdom Hoops goes beyond training in our Des Moines facility as our teams travel and compete in national events. The AAU basketball model offers a unique exposure opportunity for student-athletes. Each year, 90% of the student-athletes on our top 17U program go on to receive some form of an athletic or academic scholarship. The Kingdom Hoops program is a process and our staff is committed to coming alongside and tailoring the experience to the youth we serve. We believe basketball is the beginning, our vision is to create an experience where youth are able to reach their athletic goals, while growing spiritually and developing relationships along the way.
The Kingdom Cares food program was created in October of 2014 when our staff began to notice a pattern of children asking to grab snacks from the concession stand. Through the help of many dedicated families, we began to provide dinner four times per week to over 40 children. Many of the youth who participate in our basketball programs will spend all day and evening in our facility. We are thankful for the many families who have chosen to serve and come alongside our program to help make this program possible. We rely on volunteers to provide meals each week – if you are interested in volunteering please email Alex Maschoff (alex@kingdomhoops.com).
